GREAT LAKES, Ill. (Jan. 25, 2018) Recruits fight a compartment fire aboard the USS Chief Fire Fighting Trainer at Recruit Training Command (RTC). The firefighting training is just one of the many Navy skills recruits learn during their time at the Navy’s only boot camp. RTC is approximately eight weeks and all enlistees into the U.S. Navy begin their careers at the command. Training includes physical fitness, seamanship, firearms, firefighting and shipboard damage control along with lessons in Navy heritage and core values, teamwork and discipline.
