Spc. Timothy Shabbot, a field artillery automated tactical data systems specialist with Battery K, 1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment receives a Purple Heart medal from Brig. Gen. William L. Smith in a ceremony held on Contingency Operating Site Kalsu, May 30. Shabbot, serving as a machine gunner on his vehicle, received his medal for injuries sustained when his convoy came under attack outside Baghdad.
