Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Ralph Lafond, diver, assigned to the U.S. Navy's Deep Submergence Unit, waits in the transfer skirt of the U.S. Navy Submarine Rescue Diving and Recompression System's Pressurized Rescue Module, Falcon, for the hatch to open aboard the Portuguese navy submarine SSK Tridente during Bold Monarch 2011. Participants and observers from more than 25 countries are taking part in NATO exercise Bold Monarch 2011, the world's largest submarine rescue exercise. This 12-day exercise supports interoperability between all submarine rescue units.
