U.S. Army Spc. Johnny J. Butler Jr., 937th Route Clearance Company, 8th Engineer Battalion, receives the Purple Heart Medal from Brig. Gen. Mark W. Yenter, Acting Deputy Commander, Support, United States Forces - Afghanistan. Butler was awarded the Purple heart for injuries he received in an improvised explosive device strike on his route clearance vehicle in Afghanistan. The 8th Engineer Batallion, Trojan Horse, from Fort Hood, Texas, is deployed to Afghanistan with Task Force Overlord. The 25th Naval Construction Regiment, from Gulfport, Miss., is the command and control element for Task Force Overlord, which is responsible for construction engineering and engineering support in Southern, Southwestern and Western Afghanistan.
