Herd came to Hawaii, Feb. 1 and 2, visiting the local SFL-TAP centers at Schofield Barracks and Fort Shafter, met with Army leaders, and also visited Pearl Harbor. Herd, who served in the Army for more than 20 years, took on his current position in 2010.
