U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. John Harris, executive officer for Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, presents awards to students with Iwakuni Elementary School for academic excellence, during a second quarter awards ceremony here, Feb. 16, 2018. The students received the commander’s award, which is earned by getting all A’s for the first semester and no more than two excused absences. The event gave Harris an opportunity to spread motivation by congratulating those who earned awards and urging those who didn’t and work a little harder to earn their shot next quarter.
