Capt. Justin P. Morrison and Capt. Kyle T. Myer take off in an AH-1Z Viper while Sgt. Austin B. Shepard and Lance Cpl. Jesus Gallegos ground guide them out during a training event on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 8, 2018. The pilots are getting flight training while wearing the Joint Protective Aircrew Ensemble (JPACE) and Respirator equipment. The training event was to familiarize pilots with the JPACE. The JPACE will increase the protection provided over existing garments while reducing heat stress and system weight. The equipment will provide chemical protection against all liquid, particle, vapor and aerosol from chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear agents. Morrison and Myer are AH-1Z pilots with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 369, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing.
