Eight Missouri Army National Guard soldiers from the 1/129th Field Artillery were ordered to state emergency duty as part of Task Force 110 to conduct presence patrols in Atchison County at the request of local authorities. The team is led by Sgt. 1st Class John Weiss and will be on around the clock patrols until further notice. Presence patrols are used to assist local authorities and law enforcement by monitoring flood conditions and keeping watch on property of persons who have evacuated in advance of the possible flooding. The Missouri National Guard will continue to assist the citizens of Missouri under the direction of Gov. Jay Nixon until released by him and local civil authorities.
