SAN DIEGO (March 5, 2018) USS Essex (LHD 2) transits under the Coronado Bridge on its way to participate in the Navy’s first full-length Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT) exercise. SWATT is led by the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) and is designed to increase warfighting proficiency, lethality, and interoperability of participating units.
