Alaska National Guard Soldiers with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation Regiment confirm the external fuel tank on the side of their UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter is secure before departure from Bryant Army on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, for a training mission to several miles north of the Alaskan coastline Mar. 4, 2018. This training is linked to the Alaska National Guard’s Arctic Eagle 2018. A number of Department of Defense exercises assess the ability to conduct sustained operations in arctic conditions including Arctic Eagle 2018, Alaskan Command’s Exercise Arctic Edge, the U.S. Army’s Arctic Pegasus, and the U.S. Navy’s ICEX 2018. The exercises occur in February and March 2018, and dates for each exercise varies. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt. Seth LaCount)
