Senior Airman Edgar Beckford, 90th Missile Maintenance Squadron topside technician, opens the launcher closure door to a missile silo, Feb. 2, 2018, in the F. E. Warren Air Force Base missile complex. The launcher closure door weighs 110 tons and takes approximately 20 minutes to open. Missile maintenance teams perform periodic maintenance to maintain the on-alert status for launch facilities, ensuring the success of the nuclear deterrence mission.
