ANSBACH, Germany- Soldiers from the 2-227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade out of Fort Hood Texas conduct a roll-on landing in a HH-60 MEDEVAC helicopter, March 7, 2018, at Katterbach Army Airfield in Ansbach, Bavaria, Germany. A roll-on landing is conducted under limited power conditions such as a single engine failure. The Pilot uses the thrust from the rotor system to slow the aircraft down instead of additional power from the engine. This technique is known as aerodynamic braking.
