U.S. Army Col. Richard Martin, Joint Sustainment Command – Afghanistan operations officer, briefs current sustainment issues to a group of distinguished visitors on Kandahar Airfield, June 24. Members of the National Guard delegation included Maj. Gen. Perry Smith, Alabama National Guard Adjutant General, Brig. Gen. Joseph Carter, Massachusetts National Guard Adjutant General, and Brig. Gen. Francis Gonzales, Nevada Army National Guard Assistant Adjutant General. JSC-A is comprised of the 184th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, a Mississippi Army National Guard unit headquartered in Laurel. The unit has been deployed to Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom since early October.
