GREAT LAKES, Ill. (March 15, 2018) Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) Steven Giordano, back left, observes abandon ship training in the USS Indianapolis Combat Training Pool at Recruit Training Command (RTC). Abandon ship is a Navy skill recruits are required to learn during their time at the RTC. MCPON was at RTC to see changes in the curriculum to more intensive hands-on training. Training includes physical fitness, seamanship, firearms, firefighting and shipboard damage control along with lessons in Navy heritage and core values, teamwork and discipline.
