A Force Reconnaissance Marine, assigned to Force Reconnaissance Company, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, prepares for a hatch breach aboard the submarine tender USS Frank Cable (AS 40) during a visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) drill, March 21, 2018. U.S. Marines, British Royal Marines and Sailors assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 5 (EODMU-5) conducted joint-combined training in order to develop shared standard-of-procedures in a VBSS environment to provide a more flexible and mission-ready capability to geographic combatant commanders in the Pacific. EODMU-5 is assigned to Commander, Task Force 75, the primary expeditionary task force responsible for the planning and execution of coastal riverine operations, explosive ordnance disposal, diving engineering and construction, and underwater construction in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.
