Dr. Khalef Abdul Samed, governor of Basrah, Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III, Multi-National Corps-Iraq commander, and other guests rise for the playing of the “national anthem” during a reception July 5 at the Basrah International Airport recognizing the 235th anniversary of U.S. independence. During the reception, the U.S. Provincial Reconstruction Team was elevated to the status of consulate general.
