U.S. and Rwanda Defense Force soldiers conduct a map reading exercise on a hill top in Gako, Rwanda, May 3. The soldiers were challenged to determine their location and other visible points utilizing various land navigation methods. The U.S. soldiers, all assigned to the 1st Battalion, 161st Field Artillery, a Kansas Army National Guard unit currently deployed to Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, were invited by the Rwandan government to practice their joint soldiering skills.
