Congressman Scott Peters, left, from California’s 52nd congressional district, visits the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) to learn about the command’s research to support the health and readiness of service members. During the visit, Peters toured the Warfighter Performance Laboratory, a 6,000 square-foot space that houses the Computer Assisted Rehabilitation Environment (CAREN), an immersive virtual reality system. The CAREN consists of a 6-degree of freedom motion platform with integrated instrumented treadmill, multiple motion capture cameras, and a large curved screen with 180-degree projection creating a virtual environment mirroring real-world situations.
