U.S. Army Sgt. Daniel McCall, assigned to the 3rd Infantry Divison at Fort Benning, Ga., in or near Salman Pak, Iraq during a deployment in support of Operation Iraq Freedom. McCall was killed in action in 2007, and his wife Brittnay says she has worked to honor her husband’s service and sacrifice by working as a Survivor Outreach Services coordinator, assisting other Gold Star Spouses and Families who have suffered a similar loss not only through the grieving process, but also with awareness and coordination of survivor benefits and other support.
