Maj. Christian Goza, the chaplain for the 1st Infantry Division Mission Command Element, explains to a class of sixth graders at the J. Kusociński Primary School No. 71 where the 1st Inf. Div. is based out of in the United States during a community outreach visit in Poznań, Poland, April 5, 2018. Goza started the outreach program with the local school to strengthen bonds with the community and put a name to some of the faces of U.S. Soldiers in the city. Nine Soldiers from the 53rd Movement Control Battalion, based out of Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, and the 1st Inf. Div., based out of Fort Riley, Kansas, took part in the visit. The MCE, led by the 1st Inf. Div. since March, is headquartered in Poznań where it serves as the division-level headquarters between U.S. Army Europe in Wiesbaden, Germany, and two regionally aligned forces brigades spread throughout Central and Eastern Europe in support of the Atlantic Resolve mission. The 53rd MCB, also headquartered in Poznań, coordinates and executes logistics missions in support of other units deployed in support of Atlantic Resolve.
