A Coast Guard Medal hangs from the pocket of Petty Officer 1st Class Jacob Hylkema, a boatswain's mate at Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor, after a ceremony held in his honor at the station's base in Westport, Wash., April 6, 2018.

Hylkema jumped into 18 to 20-foot breaking surf during the rescue of the master of the sailing vessel Grace on the night of Oct. 6, 2016.
