An F-16 Fighting Falcon from Misawa Air Base, Japan, stops using an aircraft arresting barrier system cable during annual test of the system at Yokota Air Base, July 13, 2011. The arresting gear is used in the event of an emergency where a fighter or similar aircraft cannot stop on its own. A tailhook catches the cable stretched across the runway and massive hydraulic reels slowly bring the aircraft to a stop.
