Royal Australian Air Force Hawk 127 aircraft from No. 76 Squadron await clearance from the tower prior to take off from RAAF Base Amberley in Queensland on a work up sortie for Talisman Sabre 2011.
TS11 is a major bilateral exercise designed to train Australian and United States forces in planning and conducting combined operations across the full spectrum of military operations from conventional conflict to peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance in order to improve Australian–U.S. combat readiness and interoperability.
Around 22,000 Australian and U.S. personnel are participating in TS11. Personnel and assets from the Australian and U.S. Navy, Army and Air Force as well as the U.S. Marines are training in six defense training areas in central and northern Queensland and the Northern Territory, while maritime forces are also operating in the Coral, Timor and Arafura Seas.
