GREENVILLE, N.C. – Brig. Gen. Allen Boyette, the North Carolina National Guard’s (NCNG) Assistant Adjutant General for Sustainment and Deborah White, the mother of 1st Lt. Ashley White unveil the sign for the 1st Lt. Ashley White- Stumpf Readiness Center on Sunday, April 8, 2018.
The dedication honors 1st Lt. Ashley White, who was a member of the N.C. Guard’s Company C, 230th Brigade Support Battalion of the 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team. On Oct. 22, 2011, White died, near Kandahar, Afghanistan, as a result of wounds she sustained when multiple improvised explosive devices were detonated near her position. At the time of her death, she was serving with Special Operations Forces as part of a Cultural Support Team (CST), a mission for which she had volunteered.
