U.S. Marine Lieutenant General Daniel O’Donohue, Deputy Commandant for Information Headquarters Company address the audience about the significance of the Navy and Marine Corps Medal and the act of heroism that U.S. Marine Sergeant James M. Niemeier, Military Information Support Operations (MISO) Non Commissioned Officers with MISO Company, demonstrated to receive this highly distinguished award at Camp Upshur Quantico, VA on March 16, 2018. The Navy and Marine Corps Medal is the highest non-combat decoration awarded. Sergeant Niemeier was recognized for his quick actions, presence of mind, and selfless behavior which served as a driving force behind preventing a fellow Marine from taking his own life.
