1st Lt. Ward A. Savage, 4th Platoon, Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines (E 2/5), 3rd Infantry Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, speaks with a local resident during a presence patrol in Al Hawz, Iraq. E 2/5 and Iraqi soldiers conducted a presence patrol in Al Hawz, to increase the visibility of security forces to the local population and to deny any actions from anti-Iraqi forces. E 2/5 is deployed with Multi-National Forces-West in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar province of Iraq to develop Iraqi security forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic reforms, and continue the development of a market based economy centered on Iraqi reconstruction.
