U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Cody Gordon, a rifleman with 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, conducts a 500 meter swim during a scout sniper indoctrination course, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, April 11, 2018. The day's exercise consisted of a 500 meter swim; max set of pull ups, crunches, and pushups; 1.5-mile boots and utes run followed with a 12-mile ruck run; ending with a double obstacle course in under five minutes. The overall goal of the course is to familiarize students with the main aspects of sniper skills so that when they go to the Scout Sniper Basic School, they will continue to improve and successfully complete it.
