DAHLGREN, Va. (March 28, 2018) - Navy scientist Ben Wheeler briefs visitors on an engagement system integral to the Surface and Expeditionary Warfare Mission Module technologies and weapons to be integrated on the developmental Common Unmanned Surface Vehicle (CUSV). The mission module comprises engagement system technology developed at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) coupled with a Battle Management System that controls munitions such as the Longbow Hellfire Missile. The event comes on the heels of a cooperative research and development agreement that NSWCDD signed with Textron Systems who makes the CUSV. The Navy and Textron Systems plan to prove that direct and indirect fire capability with a gunfire demonstration later this year, followed by a live missile shoot in 2019. (U.S. Navy photo/Released)
