A Marine with Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, exits a UH-1Y Venom helicopter during training while underway aboard the USS Green Bay (LPD-20) in the Pacific Ocean, April 9, 2018. The Venom belongs to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Reinforced), part of the Aviation Combat Element with the 31st MEU. Fast roping allows Marines to assault otherwise inaccessible locations via rope from a hovering aircraft. The 31st MEU partners with the Navy’s Amphibious Squadron 11 to form the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, a cohesive blue-green team capable of accomplishing a variety of missions across the Indo-Pacific.
