GREAT LAKES, Ill. (April 20, 2018) The Honorable Brad Schneider (right), U. S. Congressman of the 10th Illinois Congressional District, fires a simulated 9mm pistol while Fire Controlman 1st Class Randall Quade, reviews his scoring in the USS Missouri Small Arms Marksmanship Trainer (SAMT) at Recruit Training Command (RTC), April 20. Congressman Schneider was on hand to see changes in the curriculum to a more intensive hands-on training. RTC is approximately eight weeks and all enlistees into the U. S. Navy begin their careers at the command. Training also includes physical fitness, firearms, firefighting and shipboard damage control along with lessons in Navy heritage and core values, teamwork and discipline.
