Staff Sgt. Kevin M. Hunsinger, team leader, 4th Platoon, 1st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, 7th Engineer Support Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal during an award ceremony on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., July 20, for actions while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Hunsinger, 26, from Saint Louis, Mo., responded to an IED found by Marines engaged in a firefight on Nov. 22, 2010. He exposed himself repeatedly to the enemy fire to render the device safe.
