Cpl. Elizabeth Scott (right) and Pfc. Quenton Josey, both members of the 29th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, hold up coins they received from Lt. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan, Commander, United States Army North at Camp Atterbury, Indiana April 25, 2018.
Scott was recognized for her enthusiasm and initiative in producing news stories, conducting several photo operations, role playing, and participating in many shift-change briefings during Exercise Vibrant Response 18 and Guardian Response 18.
“It’s weird being on the opposite side of the camera, but it’s really cool to be recognized by General Buchanan for the public affairs work I’ve done here,” said Scott.
Josey, on the other hand, is not a public affairs specialist by military occupation, but he was recognized for his excellent support transporting all MPAD members to and from the airport, for all of their PA missions, and for daily operations – driving over 1,000 miles.
“This is my first coin,” said Josey. “It feels good to be recognized as a private and to be presented with a coin from a three-star general.”
U.S. Army North executes the annual Vibrant Response consequence management exercise at the direction of U.S. Northern Command to confirm command and control elements of the nation’s CBRN response forces. U.S. Force Command’s linked exercise, Guardian Response, held at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, validates how the subordinate units train to carry out the operations under the direction of a joint task force.
