New recruits with Kilo Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, wait in line to makes their initial phone calls home at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, April 23. Recruits must notify their families when they have safely made it to MCRD San Diego. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Kilo Company is scheduled to graduate July 20.
