Camp Pendleton, CAL Fire, and Orange County Firefighters excavate fire breaks for the second day in a row during joint operations on Camp Pendleton, Calif., May 1, 2018. The goal is to establish 38 miles of a total 164 miles of firebreaks used to keep fires from leaving the installation and damaging property on and off base for the rest of the fire season. Neighboring Fire Departments use Camp Pendleton’s firefighting operations as a resource for training and improving tactics that they wouldn’t otherwise implement.
