Alexander, DC, USN, which posthumously awarded him the Silver Star Medal, in the base chapel at Naval Air Station, North Island, on April 2, 2018. Lt. Cmdr. Alexander was posthumously awarded the Silver Star Medal for his actions on Dec. 7, 1941, recognizing his courage in saving some of his fellow shipmates lives on board the Nevada-class battleship USS Oklahoma (BB-37).
