NAVAL AMPHIBIOUS BASE CORONADO, Calif. (May 8, 2018) Vice Adm. Richard Brown, commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, receives honors during departure of the official party after Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center's (SMWDC) change of command. During the ceremony Rear Adm. David Welch relieved Rear Adm. John Wade and became the third SMWDC commander. SMWDC is the Navy’s surface warfare community’s Warfighting Development Center and its mission is to increase the lethality and tactical proficiency of the surface force across all domains.
