PENSACOLA, Fla. (May 10, 2018) U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Jason Johnson, an instructor at the Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC), discusses training with Under Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly in the Metal Fabrication Laboratory during his visit to Pensacola training commands. Modly has initiated a clean-sheet review, or "Education for Seapower" initiative, of the Department of the Navy's approach to education across the Navy and Marine Corps to instill a learning culture in the department where knowledge produces sea power. The Pensacola visit was an opportunity to update Modly on the latest force development approaches for building a talented fleet by taking recruits from "street-to-fleet" and transforming civilians into highly skilled, operational, and combat ready warfighters.
