180516-N-AC117-0058 WATERS SOUTH OF JAPAN (May 16, 2018) Military Sealift Command’s (MSC) dry cargo/ammunition ship USNS Cesar Chavez (T-AKE 14) pulls away from the Navy's forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), after a replenishment-at-sea. The non-combatant, civilian-crewed ship, operated by MSC, provides fuel, food, ordnance, spare parts, mail and other supplies to Navy ships throughout the world. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
