    COMBAT OUTPOST SHIR GHAZAY, Helmand province, Afghanistan - Lance Cpl. Ronald Curaba, a Coram, Long Island, N.Y. native and team leader with 81mm Mortar Platoon, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, posts security during a patrol through the city of Shir Ghazi, July 25. Curaba’s father was a firefighter during the the attack on September 11, 2001, inspiring Curaba to join the Marine Corps. “I wanted to serve my country and do right for what happened to my home city,” Curaba said.
