MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Virginia — Coach Faith Avalos exercises during a wake up and workout session at Marine Corps Recruiting Command’s 2018 Coaches Workshop in Dumfries, Virginia, May 17. The Coaches Workshop educates approximately 50 collegiate coaches from across the nation about essential Marine Corps leadership skills and programs that they can share with their student athletes based on first-hand experiences. Avalos is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), an organization that educates volleyball coaches, recognizes elite players and coaches, and promotes volleyball competitions and networking opportunities for volleyball members. The Marine Corps partners with the AVCA to inspire coaches via Marine Corps leadership styles and characteristics, creating brand advocates among the organization’s key influencers. Avalos is the head volleyball coach for Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. (Marine Corps photo by Pfc. Phuchung Nguyen)
