A delegation from the South Carolina National Guard, led by U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Roy Van McCarty, deputy adjutant general for South Carolina, received the Amy Communities of Excellence (ACOE) Silver award for the SCNG at the Pentagon May 18, 2018. Presenting the award was U.S. Army Gen. James McConville, the Vice Chief of Staff for the Army. South Carolina won the Army National Guard's ACOE Silver award, presented annually by the Army's chief of staff, which recognizes excellence in innovation, initiatives and effectiveness in customer care which affects the quality of care for Soldiers, families and retirees.
