WASHINGTON -- The South Carolina National Guard was recognized for excellence in installation management and commitment to their service members and families during a ceremony at the Pentagon, May 18, 2018.
The Army Communities of Excellence (ACOE) program recognized the SCNG for an outstanding job in the National Guard category, presenting them with the Silver award for 2018.
The ACOE award honors the top Army, National Guard, and Reserve installations that have achieved high levels of excellence in building a quality environment, outstanding facilities and superior services.
"We are certainly proud and honored to have earned this award," said U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Roy Van McCarty, deputy adjutant general for South Carolina.
The award is sponsored by the Chief of Staff of the Army (CSA) and overseen by the Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management (ACSIM).
"Our installations are extremely important because the Army's people are our most important asset, our most important weapons system," said U.S. Army Gen. James McConville, the Vice Chief of Staff for the Army. "The winning installations have succeeded in creating a true sense of community for our military families."
