CAGUAS, Puerto Rico – USACE employees discuss the closeout process with a contractor and a representative from the Puerto Rico Power Authority at a supply depot in Caguas, Puerto Rico, May 19. USACE began transitioning power grid supplies to the Puerto Rico Power Authority following the end of the restoration mission May 18. USACE worked as part of the Unified Command, along with PREPA, FEMA and electric industry partners to help the citizens of Puerto Rico recover from damages caused by Hurricane Maria Sept. 20, 2017. USACE leveraged its resources to urgently and efficiently restore power while also acting as a responsible steward of tax payer funds.
