U.S. Army National Guard Soldiers slog through the 12-mile ruck march portion of the Region 1 Best Warrior Competition at West Point, N.Y., May 19, 2018. The Region 1 Best Warrior Competition, held May 16-19, 2018, is an annual event in which junior enlisted Soldiers and non-commissioned officers (NCOs) from eight Northeastern states compete in several events intended to test their military skills and knowledge, as well as their physical fitness and endurance.
