Col. Timothy S. Mundy (right), outgoing commanding officer of School of Infantry - East, receives the Legion of Merit from his father, retired Gen. Carl E. Mundy, 30th commandant of the Marine Corps, during the SOI-EAST change of command ceremony aboard Camp Geiger, Aug. 5. Fitzpatrick is coming into command following a year-long deployment with I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) while Mundy is assigned to 2nd Marine Division.
