Marines and sailors with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit display T-shirts from the firefighters of Battalion 41, Fire Department, City of New York, after a unit physical training session at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Aug. 5, 2011. The donated shirts represent the lasting friendship between the FDNY and the 26th MEU, that started immediately after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks when the MEU carried an American Flag flown at Ground Zero into Afghanistan, and continued through the MEU’s support of the commissioning of the USS New York.
