Petty Officer 2nd Class Patrick Morrison, an aviation boatswains mate (handling), directs a MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter assigned to the Wild cards of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 23 during flight operations aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). Makin Island is the flagship for Amphibious Squadron 5 and the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and is underway for PHIBRON-MEU Integrated Training in preparation for the ship's first operational deployment.
