U.S. Army Sgt. Samuel Daniels practices for the discus field event, May 28, 2018, at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. in preparation for the 2018 Department of Defense (DOD) Warrior Games, coming up June 1 to June 9. During the 2018 Warrior Games approximately 250 athletes representing teams from the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy/Coast Guard, Air Force, and Special Operations Command, as well as athletes from international partner nations, the United Kingdom Armed Forces, the Australian Defence Force, and the Canadian Armed Forces, will participate in 10 sporting events: archery, cycling, powerlifting, sitting volleyball, shooting, swimming, wheelchair basketball, track and field, and new this year, powerlifting and indoor rowing. Participants include athletes with upper-body, lower-body and spinal cord injuries; amputations; serious illnesses; traumatic brain injuries; visual impairment and post-traumatic stress disorder.
