Capt. Shaye Haver, commander of Company C., 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C., gathers her equipment on Adazi Base, Latvia after parachuting from a C-17 Globemaster III during Swift Response 18, June 9, 2018. Haver and hundreds of other paratroopers departed Fort Bragg, N.C., June 8 on eight C-17 Globemaster III military transport aircraft and flew non-stop to the Baltics, with an in-flight refuel over the Atlantic Ocean. The soldiers donned parachutes and prepared equipment inside the aircraft to simulate a no-notice transatlantic Global Response Force (GRF) mission. The 82nd, as the nucleus of the United States Army's GRF, maintains an ability to deploy thousands of paratroopers anywhere in the world within 18 hours. Once on the ground, the paratroopers conducted combat exercises across multiple follow-on objectives. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Dustin D. Biven / 22nd Mobile Public Affairs Detachment)
