Paratrooper field artillerymen of the 173rd Infantry Brigade rapidly remove the blocking and bracing from their air-dropped M119 105mm Howitzer on Drop Zone Eagle near Drawsko Pomorskie, Poland, as part of Exercise Swift Response, June 8, 2018.
Exercise Swift Response is an annual U.S. Army Europe-led multinational
exercise being held in Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
This exercise features high-readiness airborne forces from nine nations to include Israel,
and NATO allies; Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom and the
United States. Activities include intermediate staging base operations, multiple airborne
operations, and an air assault operation.
Swift Response provides a vital joint and multinational training opportunity that allows
command and control of complex operations from dispersed locations while ensuring that
participating forces work together seamlessly to bring the full weight of the joint and combined
team to bear – wherever and whenever needed.
